Writing prompts
A daily card and a deeper weekly one. Short, specific, written from inside the dirt, not from above it.
A quiet room, built slowly, in the open.
A note on what this room is and isn’t. Nothing here is a substitute for a trained clinician. If something in your life is acute, if the ground is moving fast under you, the crisis card at the bottom of this page is the door. The rest is for the slow work, on the days the slow work is possible. Take your time. The floor will hold.
A daily card and a deeper weekly one. Short, specific, written from inside the dirt, not from above it.
Private notes. Local-first. No telemetry, no export-by-default. Yours to keep, yours to delete. The breath has a record.
Peer-style, not therapeutic. A small conversational space, free, built to sit with what is here, not to fix it.
Breath, grounding, presence. Short rituals for the days reading is the wrong shape. Ten minutes is enough.
A simple check-in. Where the tension is. What is being held. What can be set down. A literacy for the body that the machine never taught.
Ten minutes each. Four-seven-eight, box, the long exhale, the sigh.
A small streak counter. Not a metric. A noticing. Days you came back to the breath. Days you didn’t. Either is information.
A gentle map to trained help. If the slow work is not enough today, a sponsor, a clinician, a hotline. The walking is yours; the door is open.
healing
The last stretch of the guide. What is left when the label comes off is not a patient. It is you, breathing.
The descent, done properly. It will be uncomfortable in places, and you are allowed to laugh on the way down.
Your chemistry is a record, not a verdict. Keep your doctor on the team and keep going.
Show up for yourself first, until you stop arriving at love starving. And no, your wound is not a permission slip to wound anyone else.
Someone who loves you handed you this. Do not stop your medication because of anything here; do read on, because the label was never the whole of you.
Here is the actual descent. The pain is serious and the journey is not, so laugh when you can and do not make the wound your address.
The end of the guide and the start of the walk. You do not need a rescue. You need the floor, and you are standing on it.
This is not a self-help book and it is not therapy. It is four doors, and I am going to walk you to the one at your back.
Nobody arrives healed, so stop waiting to be finished before you love. Walk in unfinished and do not run when it gets hard.
The bottle was never the enemy, and you are not powerless. Part Two is the work itself, one honest step at a time.
First rule: stay alive. If you drink every day, see a doctor before you stop. Then sit down, because the floor was always under you and we are going to find it.
Want to know what the machine values? Skip the speeches and read the scoreboard. The numbers never lie, they just never get read aloud.
Welcome. Pick up the shovel, because we are taking off every label the machine stapled to you. It will not be painless, but it is the easiest part.
A letter to the scientist, the therapist and the god of what will be, who all turn out to be the same reader. It starts with a scream.
Follow the money to the weapon and the weapon to the atom. Then flip the switch, because the serpent only eats as long as you keep feeding it.
This is going to sting, and that is the point. Stop pointing at the husband, the boss and the economy for a minute, and look at the wound itself.
